The solution to Instagram Black Messages
Users of Instagram have discovered that setting the mode on your phone to dark will make your direct messages viewable again.
On iPhone, you can accomplish this by going into the Settings app and selecting the Dark option under Display and Brightness.
Please note, that you will no longer see a white display on Instagram; however, you will still be able to see any messages that have been sent to you.
You can check the Instagram outage on the down detector.
If you don’t see any reports then you need to apply some fixes on your mobile to view the black messages on Instagram.
Restart Your Mobile
Your first step in solving the issue should be to restart your mobile since this tends to resolve the majority of problems that are experienced by smartphone users.
If you are using Instagram and are just seeing a black strip instead of the DM, you will need to restart your mobile device.
If restarting your device does not fix the problem, you will need to go on to the next possible option.
Clear Your Instagram Cache
Clearing cache is another solution, the majority of issues that a user had on an app can be resolved by clearing its cached data. The following is a guide that will walk you through clearing the cached files that Instagram uses on an Android phone.
Go to Settings > Apps > Instagram > Storage > Clear Cache.
Users using iPhones, do not have the ability to clear the cached data. Instead, they will have to remove the app and install back again.
If you don’t see any improvement then there is nothing you can do, but wait and see, mostly the issues get resolved within 24 hours.
The majority of the time this issue arises when Instagram’s servers are down, or there may be a bug that just affects Instagram DMs, or the most recent version of the Instagram app may be to blame for the return of text in Instagram messages and direct messages.
